  1. Since the golf boom in the 80s-90s so many new courses allow for this. Try gaining strokes on this hole with driver where every wild tee shot costs you 2 shots rather than a chip out at worst.

    Which makes me ask the question. Has driver tech made the game easier since the metal wood era. Or have courses made drivers more effective by design?

  2. I’m genuinely fascinated by strokes gained and thanks Mark for making a complex idea far simpler to understand.

    1. +Mark Crossfield I have also just bought Arccos based yours and others endorsements. There are two short par 4’s at my course and the local wisdom is to lay up with a long iron. And I’m really interested to see what Arccos recommends as a strategy based on my stats. I’ve not yet played enough holes for the AI to kick in but it’ll be interesting. I strongly suspect it’ll be a driver for both.

  3. With this in mind, do you need to remove “mid-range” irons. And have more around the green wedges to capitalise on the longer tee shots. So you can pinpoint the distance you want.
